| NATIVE GRASS MIXTURE | |
| Native species mixture ideally suited for habitat, annually erasing predator trails, providing nesting site for birds, waterfowl and wildlife. High elevation mountain sites in Zone 4 are dominated by many non-aggressive indigenous native species. Seed of native species is commercially limited for Zone 4. For specific recommendations for habitat mitigation, native plantings and seed availability, please call Cebeco International Seeds, Inc. for options. (1-800-445-2251). | |
NOTES: Zone 4 is dominated by introduced natives and natives of wheatgrass, wildrye and bluegrass. Cold winters and hot summers are favorable for these determinant forage type species. Perennial and intermediate ryegrass has been successfully introduced in this region to improve forage quality programs specifically for intensive and rotational grazing systems. Ryegrasses are generally susceptible to cold damage in Zone 4. Ryegrasses, however, have varied levels of cold tolerance. Generally the 2n late maturing perennial ryegrasses are more cold tolerant than 4n, late maturing perennial ryegrasses.
